Mr. Newton’s diesel tech students are working hard this semester! Second year students are rebuilding engines in a shop simulation. Each engine has a Forman, parts rep, and tool rep. They are communicating with each other and other groups for engine torque specs and engine building techniques. First year students have begun pre-trip and preventive maintenance inspections, as well as learning about tire maintenance. Way to go! 🛞

In Mrs. Napier’s health science class, they are studying the integumentary system and did a lab activity last week to simulate a skin wound! 🩹 Students were tasked to develop their own case study of a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th degree burn. They created the burn out of glue, toilet paper, gasoline, paint, powder make-up and popsicle stick. Students then presented their case study with details on the type of injury, and how to prevent the injury! They also reviewed the importance of fire safety and burn prevention by educating students on checking for working smoke detectors in their home 🧯 Scroll to the end if you have a strong stomach - these students did a great job making them look REAL! Good job!
