Our team has been out checking roads this afternoon and evening and unfortunately, we've found that the large majority of the county roads and turnaround locations that our buses travel are not currently safe for our buses to navigate. Due to these conditions, Monday, January 13, 2025 will be NTI Day #5 for Jessamine County Schools. JCS childcare will be open from 8-5:30 at NES for those students who are pre-registered for NTI care.
We know many families are anxiously awaiting news about school tomorrow, and we wanted to provide an update.
Access to bus turnarounds is crucial and a number of them in the county are still snow covered. With warmer temperatures, sunshine, and the continued efforts of road crews, we're hopeful that road conditions will improve throughout the day. Our team will be out this afternoon and evening checking roads to monitor progress.
We’ll share an update about Monday with our district family as soon as possible. We’re excited to welcome our students back on campus, and safety will remain our top priority in making this decision. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
Our team has been out assessing road conditions and bus turnarounds, and based on current conditions, continued snowfall, and additional snow expected through Friday, Thursday, January 9, and Friday, January 10, will be NTI Days for JCS. The child care program at NES will be open Thursday from 8 AM to 5 PM for pre-registered students. We will share an update on Friday’s child care availability once we have more information about the incoming weather. Athletic Directors and coaches will communicate any updates regarding practices or games. Please stay safe and warm!
We hope everyone is staying safe and warm as we navigate this week’s winter storm. Due to continued concerns with road conditions and low temperatures, Wednesday, January 8th, will be NTI Day 2 in Jessamine County. (NTI Day 1 was back in November.) For families experiencing power outages, students will have extra time to complete their NTI assignments. In addition, JCS Childcare will be open for students that are pre-registered and have a confirmed NTI spot from 8-5, and Athletic Directors will communicate with coaches and teams about athletic events. We appreciate the crews who are working tirelessly to restore power, clear roads, and keep our community safe. Your efforts are deeply appreciated and make a difference in helping us return to in-person instruction as soon as possible.
Due to road conditions, cold temperatures, and many households without power, Tuesday, January 7, 2025 will be a traditional Snow Day for JCS, with no NTI work. Athletic games & after school activities are cancelled and JCS child care will be closed. No further decisions have been made about the remainder of the week-please be ready for NTI if needed. Miss seeing our students and want a laugh? Check out the Snow Day video announcement on the JCS YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/C6Mzihj34Hw

🎄🎁 Merry Christmas from Jessamine County Schools! 🎁🎄
May your day be filled with joy, love, and the warmth of family and friends.
🎄🎅 Holiday magic brings everyone together! While their schools may compete on the field and court, WJHS and EJHS leaders show us that there's always room for kindness, connection, and community. May the shared spirit of unity shine bright this Christmas Eve and all throughout the year! #BetterTogether #WeAreJessamine
#FestiveFriendship
It's important to have outstanding personnel not only behind the wheel, but also behind the scenes in our Transportation Department. These guys continue to carry the load of inspecting buses, ongoing repairs and filling in for drivers when needed. They make sure all buses are safe and secure from 5:30 am to 6 pm everyday! Hats off to them for keeping up with the workload each day, even when we may be short-handed . We truly could not operate without this crew. Thanks for all you do Bryan, Sam, Tyler and Dakota.
Winter Jam PBIS Celebration at NES! Inflatable, dance area, pony bucks prize station, Gaga ball, and crafts!
At JELV, the afternoon's bright,
West Jessamine National Honor Society in sight.
After school, they bring such cheer,
Spreading joy as Christmas draws near.
Cookies to decorate, frosting so sweet,
Sprinkles and smiles, a holiday treat.
Crayons and coloring, reds, greens, and gold,
Pages alive with stories retold.
Charlie Brown Christmas plays on the screen,
The music so soft, so calm and serene.
Laughter and kindness fill up the air,
With students and leaders who truly care.
A season of giving, a time to unite,
At JELV, everything feels just right.
West Jessamine shines with a heart so true,
Bringing Christmas magic to all they do.
The WJHS staff participated in the annual departmental gingerbread house contest yesterday and this year they each had to incorporate a secret ingredient. Some had pickles, some had tic tacs, some had bowtie uncooked pasta. We loved them all, but this year's winner was the math department! Congratulations! Until next year!
JCS art and music enrichment students spent time with Cedarhurst residents, collaborating on art projects and sharing the gift of music with a holiday concert. We're proud of these Connected Citizens who know that the true magic of Christmas is in the joy we share with others.❤️
