This outstanding educator fosters a genuine connection with her students and is always there when they need her. She’s described as an empathetic listener and life coach who inspires those around her to “pass it on” and be there for others as well. Her classroom is a place where students are challenged to grow and connect their knowledge to real world applications. During March, Athletic Trainers across America are being recognized for their commitment to helping people prevent injuries, stay healthy and active. As health care professionals, they are highly educated and dedicated to the job at hand. Athletic trainers are found in high schools and colleges, corporations, professional sports, the military, performing arts, clinics, hospitals and physician offices.

Today was the MSD Cadre, session 2. It was a special day of learning and professional growth. All of our MSD Teachers (Moderate/Severe Disabilities) and at least one of their IA's attended, along with a couple building administrators. Today's focus was on effective collaboration, specially designed instruction, communication practices and fostering student independence. These MSD teachers and their teams are some impressive and dedicated individuals!

In Mrs. Grant's classroom at RED, Mrs. Tyler (Speech Therapist), Ms. Terry (Instructional Assistant) and Mrs. Erin Gullette (Occupational Therapist) work collaboratively to support students with varying learning, social and functional needs. During this specific group lesson, students were cooking a Super Bowl themed appetizer by following and reading directions. I'm sure it was yummy!

JELV students hosted first responders for a Kindness Week lunch and Connected Citizenship example.
Christy Sexton is challenging her students to think deeply in novel ways. Today she is coaching them through model revision and an investigation to level up their understanding of how the Earth's surface changes over time. Mrs. Sexton worked with the kids to understand the purpose and steps of model revision- a real-world skill leveraged by Scientists daily.
Mr. Rundell responds to learner needs as he supports student understanding of a lab conducted earlier in the week. Students participated in discussion as they made sense of their lab experience through the lens of kinetics rules.
